These are my parents, and they are vital to me and the Backyard Candle Co. I dont show very many pictures of them because my mother HATES to have her picture taken. In fact, she dosent even know I am doing this post so I'm sure she will be quite suprised. My mom is my business partner and my dad does all the books, thank goodness cause that is NOT my strong point. Tons of people said it would never work being in business with eachother, but it has actually worked really well. Not to say my mom and I have never come to blows, cause we have, but it has always worked itself out at the end of the day. They, after all these years of marriage, still love spending time together. In fact, its hard to get them to do anything without the other. Its kinda cute I guess, but we are talking about my parents here and it still creeps me out a little to think they are actually IN love! :) My mom was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer just months after we opened the store. It was a very tough time for all of us, but especially my dad. It has been a little over a year since she was diagnosed and she is cancer free to date and feels great! Praise the Lord! She can't wait for her hair to come all the way back in though so she can stop wearing the scarves, but that is a small price to pay and she does have an awesome wig with a great cut and highlights. I should post a picture of her in it sometime, she would really love that! Do you sense the sarcasm? I have to add one more thing, I get my love of decorating from my mom. I would always help her when I was growing up to rearrange, decorate for Christmas, and I can even remember looking through her Country Living magazines way back then. When we are decorating the store together and we are on a roll, it just clicks. Our minds work alike in that area. I hope you enjoyed meeting them! Have a great Monday!

it is actually so nice when family can get along well enough to do business together...we haven't come to "blows" yet- and i hope we never will.

I did enjoy meeting them :) Praise God your mom is cancer free!!
Girl...YOU LOOK JUST LIKE YOUR MOM!!!
Thanks so much for introducing them to us. I am soooo happy that your mom is cancer free. I lost my mom to lung cancer that spread all over her body 12 years ago. It' so weird to type that. I think your mom looks BEAUTIFUL with a scarf on. Give your parents a big hug from me. We are all so blessed to have you as a blogging friend.
God bless that whole family of yours. You are a super cool family!!
XO
Such a sweet post. God is so good! I pray that she continues to remain cancer free. My mom and aunt have an antique stall together. They can go at it sometimes but at the end of the day there is no one better for them to be in business with. Thanks so much for sharing about your family :)
Well that was a fun post to read, thank you for sharing. It is always nice to know a little more about our blogging friends. I think I could work with my mom too...I think! so glad she is cancer free..so so so glad! :)
Tricia - what an amazing success story of your mom - that is so awesome! They look like buddies - just as I feel my parents (and even grandparents!) are, too. What a blessing to be in biz with your family. And an ab-fab business it is, too!!!
Now that is trully good news! I love your mom, her home, and her style. You are one lucky lady to have such great parents that are still married and still love each other so much. And a mom with class to boot. I'm glad she's still in the clear. :)
I love that they are still in love....the way God always meant it to be. You are truly blessed.
Tricia, Just sooo sweet! That is wonderful about the one year mark! I truly understand the whole cancer thing. Way more than I want to...
I actually am also hoping to do a post on my mother this week because its her 60th birthday. My parents are also sooo in love. I am 36 years old and would still be devastated if they weren't! We need that tried and true love! Its the real deal and its the best kind!
You are SUCH a dear, sweet gal!!! Love, L
what a wonderful tribute to your mother.
xo

I just had to sign in really quick to tell you that your cookbook display sounds adorable!! I hope I get to see a picture of it sometime! :) I love your style!
Haven't even started on the dresser yet...I can't committ to what I want to do for the top. Way too many choices...I'm thinking one of these days a genius idea will just pop into my head. I'm in need of a lightbulb moment for that one :)
I so did love meeting them. How precious are they!!! It is so cute that they do everything together. That is wonderful. Again, I am touched by your mom's story, and I so glad she is doing well. I hope you liked Twilight. Let me know what you thought. Leslie
